Discover Trondheim's iconic landmarks on a 3h guided tour with a local guide!
You'll meet your guide at Torvet, Trondheim's main square, in front of the Hevd restaurant.
The tour will begin in the market square, where the statue of Olav Tryggvason, founder of the city in Viking times, stands enthroned. You'll then head down Trondheim's main avenue towards Nidaros Cathedral, the northernmost of the Gothic cathedrals. You'll learn more about its history, although admission is not included in this activity.
Your walk will continue with an outdoor tour of the Archbishop's Palace, before reaching the banks of the Nidelva River and the Marinen Park. You'll enjoy breathtaking views of Kristiansten Fortress while learning about the great periods of Norwegian history.
Crossing the Old Town Bridge, also known as the "Gate of Happiness", you'll enter Bakklandet, Trondheim's historic district. This area of colorful houses has a typically Norwegian surprise in store for you: the world's only bicycle elevator.
Finally, you'll skirt the canal on the city's "sunny side", between old fishing boats and charming alleyways. You'll end the tour near the royal family's summer residence, the Stifstgården, where your guide will evoke the Norwegian monarchy.
