Take a day trip to visit the ceramic centres of Sicily, Caltagirone and Piazza Armerina, with a private guide!
You will enjoy a private transfer from your accommodation (if option chosen). Your tour will start in the town of Caltagirone, located a few kilometres from Catania. Following an earthquake in 1693 this town was totally rebuilt in a Baroque style, and is now famous for its pottery and ceramics. You will discover the famous staircase of Santa Maria del Monte and its mosaic and ceramic steps, you will visit the Cathedral of Caltagirone and its imposing dome as well as the Pottery Museum, a must-see here.
Your day will continue in the town of Piazza Armerina, where you will visit the Roman Villa of Casale (Villa Romana del Casale) and its mosaic decorated rooms. After a one-day excursion tracing Sicilian ceramics, you will be driven back to your accommodation (if option chosen).
