Discover Cotopaxi National Park, the volcano, and the Limpiopungo Lagoon during your stay in Quito!
You'll be picked up from your hotel or from a meeting point in Quito in the early morning and driven to Cotopaxi National Park. Along the Pan-American Highway, take in the beauty of the landscapes, surrounding nature, and the Andes mountains.
Continue through the heart of the national park before arriving at the foot of the Cotopaxi volcano. It's the highest active volcano in the country, standing tall at 5,897 metres. You'll meet your guide on site.
Weather permitting, set off on a quick hike for a stunning view of the volcano and to observe the glacier. The summit of the Cotopaxi volcano is famous for its almost perfectly conical shape. This shape is also why it's considered the twin of the famous Mount Fuji in Japan. Marvel at the impressive view of the Cotopaxi Volcano.
Afterwards, set off on a visit to the National Park Museum with your guide before heading on to see the Limpiopungo Lagoon, which borders the volcano. Again if the weather permits, take a hike through a forest full of red and yellow chuquiragas, the floral symbol of Ecuador, at 4,200 metres above sea level.
Your visit comes to a close after this last short walk. This half-day tour will show you the views and key sights of Cotopaxi National Park.
