During your stay in the Galapagos, discover the volcanic island of Bartolomé, formed thanks to the successive explosions and eruptions of a volcano, and snorkel at Sullivan Bay or Chinese Hat!
From the port of Puerto Ayora, you'll take a bus to the Canal de Itabaca located to the north of Santa Cruz Island. You'll take the island's tourist route for 45 minutes, crossing five climate zones along the way.
When you arrive at the Canal, you'll board a boat that will take you to Bartolomé Island. During this 2-hour crossing, you'll be served breakfast. You'll pass Seymour and Daphne Major islands, part of the Galapagos archipelago. You may be lucky enough to see dolphins swimming alongside the boat.
On arrival at Bartolomé Island, you'll start with a walk to the top of the volcano and enjoy panoramic views of all the Galapagos islands. You'll return to your boat and head for Pïnnacle Rock, a volcanic rock that attracts thousands of tourists every year. Here, you'll observe colonies of penguins, sea lions and Pacific tortoises coming close to shore.
Before ending your excursion, you'll head to Sullivan Bay beach opposite Pinnacle Rock to prepare for the snorkeling activity. This beach has the particularity of being covered in solidified lava, so you'll begin this latest activity in deep, easily accessible waters and get up close to these marine animals. On Friday, the visit to Sullivan Bay is replaced by Chinese Hat. You'll then head back to Canal de Itabaca to return to Puerto Ayora at the end of your excursion.
A box lunch will be provided at lunchtime. You'll enjoy a typical Ecuadorian dish. You will be met at the port of Puerto Ayora at the end of your excursion.
